-The team finished 5th at the Legends Invite with many course bests and a handful of PRs. Results are posted on athletic.net.

-Tuesday's dual with Plymouth is at Cass Benton. Dismissal after 5th hour, depart at 1:45, boys race at 4:00, and girls race at 4:30. White Singlets.

-PRACTICE SCHEDULE CHANGE - Friday's practice is moving to SMS.

-The Portage Invite is this Saturday, October 10th at Portage West Middle School. All our athletes will attend. The bus leaves at 9:00. Varsity (top 7) race at 1:00 and JV race at 3:00. Awards to the top 50 individuals and top 3 teams are at 2:30 and JV awards pick up is after the race. Varsity will wear varsity singlets. JV will wear Checkerboard Singlets. This is the largest meet in Michigan with 17 races throughout the day and 30+ teams in the D1 boys race alone. We plan to set up the team camp at the south end of the campus, along the south side of Moorsbridge Elementary. Meet/parking info and the course map links can be found on the PI Parent Quick Sheet and on the Portage Invite website.

-This is a long day. Athletes should pack a lunch and bring extra snacks. We expect to return after 6:30.

-The season is winding down quickly, especially for our less experienced runners. The Brighton JV Invite (October 26th) will be the last meet of the season for athletes not traveling with the Regional and State teams. Practices after the JV Invite are optional for runners no longer competing. Any unexcused absences must be made up during these optional practices.

-All healthy athletes are encouraged to continue training with their teammates through the duration of the season.

-October 15th SMS XC/TF coach Colleen Monroe is going to be honored on the BAS Distinguished Alumni Wall of Fame. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the ceremony starting at 6:30 p.m. in the BHS Steam Center. Members of the Brighton XC community are welcome to attend.

-Colleen Monroe (1982) – Colleen “Tokai” Monroe is being honored for her exemplary achievements as an author. She is the author of many nationally bestselling children's books, including A Wish to Be the Christmas Tree. Her stories have been read publicly by President George W. Bush, Katie Couric, and Mitch Albom. Monroe has also served as a cross country and track coach for many years, is a member of the district's support staff, and has contributed in many ways as a volunteer within the community.

-A member of our BXC family is searching for volunteers for the Detroit Free Press Marathon. This is an excellent way to earn volunteer/service hours and support the running community.
