Updates - 10-26-20

-The team had strong showings at the JV dual with Ann Arbor Pioneer and at the Pre-Regional. Multiple course best times were set by our JV runners on the Pioneer course while the varsity advanced to the Regional with their Pre-Regional victory! Results to both meets are on athletic.net.

-Tuesday, the 27th JV athletes will race at Howell in the JV Last Chance Invite. The bus is scheduled to depart at 2:30 after school. Runners driving separate should arrive by 3:00. The race is set for 4:30. Athletes will wear the Black and Orange singlets. Coach Monroe will attend the meet while Coach Elsey will attend the varsity practice. Currently all JV athletes are entered in the race. However, final race info hasn't been received yet. While not anticipated, in the event entries need to be reduced, priority will be given to runners with the faster season best times. Course Map

-Optional practices for JV runners begin on Wednesday, the 28th. Any unexcused absences need to be made up by attending the optional practices. The list of athletes needing to make up practices was included in this week's r-mail. Runners that would like to continue training with the team through these last couple weeks are encouraged to do so.

-Saturday, the 31st is the Regional meet at Dewitt High School. Varsity and alternate will depart from the BHS fieldhouse at 6:30. The race is at 9:00. The top 3 teams and top 7 individuals not on an advancing team will qualify for the State Meet at Michigan International Speedway. The course map and spectator info are here. Spectators note the $10/vehicle entry fee and that public restrooms will not be available.

-Uniform return for JV athletes is on Monday, November 2nd. All items must be WASHED and returned with the bag to Coach Elsey in classroom D22. Runners not attending face to face instruction may return the uniform at that afternoon's practice.

-As runners finish their season they are encouraged to take two weeks away from consistent training. General rule of thumb is to take the first week completely off from running. The second week athletes should run as much or little as they want. Runners should return to consistent training during the third week. Athletes recovering from injury (or burnout) should take all the time they need to return to 100%. Athletes participating in a winter sport should focus on that sport and do everything they can to be great!
