Updates - 10-3-22

-The boys return to racing this week after a well deserved down week.

-Tuesday, the 4th the team races Canton at Cass Benton. The bus leaves at 2:30 and the boys race at 5:00. Athletes will wear the Black and Orange singlets. Expect parking to be a challenge as there is another dual meet with races at 4:00 and 4:30. Cass Benton Course Map

-The Portage Invite is Saturday, October 8th at Portage West Middle School. Only athletes that have run sub 19 minutes (or close) will attend. The bus leaves at 9:15. Varsity (top 7) races at 1:00 and JV races at 3:00. Awards to the top 50 individuals and top 3 teams are at 2:30 for varsity and 4:30 for JV. Varsity will wear varsity singlets. JV will wear their Checkerboard singlets. This is by far the largest meet we'll attend this season with 17 races throughout the day and ~40 teams in the D1 race alone. The team camp will be in the area north of the tennis courts, between the 1K and 2 mile markers. Meet/parking info and the course map are posted on the Portage Invite website. Parent Quick Sheet

-Only one minor schedule change this week. Monday's practice at Huron Meadows will end at 4:45.

-The Brighton PROM on Thursday, Oct 27th at Huron Meadows has been added to our meet schedule. Our Regional Alternates will be racing. The meet is optional for all other athletes that continue training beyond the KLAA meet.

-The Ford family are very active in the running community and have been huge supporters of the BXC programs for these past few years. They are seeking volunteers for this year's Detroit Free Press Marathon.

-Sunday, October 16 is the 45th running of the Detroit Free Press Marathon and it's the largest running event in Michigan and this year some 19,500 runners are projected to participate in the 5K, 1/2, and full marathons. Please feel free to invite your athletes and program friends/family to consider volunteering for this year's event. Any participation would be fine but Michele and I are in charge of Gear Check and we'd love to see some black and orange helping us out. Volunteers will be given some swag, last year a hooded zippered sweatshirt, and we've always got snacks on hand for the shifts. There are two shifts for Gear Check with the first being 5AM-10:30AM and the second shift 10AM-2:30PM. The 2022 version of the DFPM has the new course the finish moving to Campus Martius to make the finish experience a bit more "inviting" for participants and spectators. Here's the volunteer link and have a Runderful season!

-Awards Night is Monday, November 21st at 7:00 in the Maltby Cafeteria.
