Updates - 10-4-21

Updated: Oct 10, 2021

-The team moves to 4-1 in the division after defeating Plymouth and falling to a tough Northville team this past Tuesday. The varsity B team raced in the Legends Invite finishing 9th out of 18 teams. Results to the double dual are posted on athletic.net. Results to Legends will be posted soon.

-Senior night is Tuesday, October 5th after the Canton dual at Huron Meadows. The girls race at 4:15 and the boys race at 4:45. Athletes will wear the Orange and White singlets. For senior night parents are encouraged to bring the senior banners and any other signs they'd like to hang along the fence near the pavilion.

-Saturday, October 9th is the Portage Invite at Portage West Middle School. Varsity races at 2:00 and JV races at 4:00. The bus leaves at 9:30. Only sub 19:00 runners will compete. In previous years awards were given to the top 50 individuals and top 3? teams. Varsity will wear varsity singlets. JV will wear their Checkerboard singlets. This is one of the largest XC meets in the region with 41 teams entered in the D1 boys race. Spectators should expect traffic and parking to be a challenge. The team camp will be in the area north of the tennis courts, between the 1K and 2 mile markers. Meet/parking info and the course map are posted on the meet website.

-Milk is one of the most requested and least received items at food banks. With eight grams of protein per serving and essential nutrients such as calcium and potassium, milk is a nutritious staple that should be in every fridge.

Your gallon donation at Busch's in Brighton will not only provide milk to those who need it most, but also get Brighton XC one gallon closer to receiving a Chocolate Milk Drive Grant for their season! Stop in before October 10th to make a difference in your community. #BuschsMilkDrive #MilkMeansMore

-We are looking for at least three more runners that are willing to help support the program by working at the upcoming U of M football game on October 23rd. Athletes can sign up here. Details are here.

-The KLAA Championships are only a couple weeks away. After the league meet, optional/make-up practices begin for runners not competing in the Regional or State meets. All athletes that are healthy are strongly encouraged to continue training with their teammates.

-Couple of schedule changes this week. Monday's practice at Bishop Lake will end around 4:30. Friday the team will be heading to Scranton to run with the middle school athletes.

-Friday the 15th, XC athletes have the option to march down main street in the homecoming parade. Attending runners will need to meet in the BECC parking lot by 5:15.
