-The Middle School XC Camp was a major success with 45 young athletes completing the 2K race at BHS. The hard work and enthusiasm of our high school athletes make this camp a great experience. Results are posted on the Middle School Camp page and photos will be posted to the Brighton Cross Country Facebook page. The future of BHS XC looks bright!
-The BSN Team Spirit Wear Shop opens up this Monday, the 29th and closes August 5th.
-Wednesday is the Camp Time Trial. This is the last opportunity to qualify for Team Camp. The top 25 runners based on time from the July and Camp Time Trials receive the first invites to camp. Please let Coach Elsey know if any top 25 athlete is unable to attend camp. There are other runners that would love to attend.
-Running Lab and other specialty running stores have sales for the upcoming season coming up. Running Lab's sale is this Sunday, the 4th. Gazelle Sports sale begins Friday, August 16th.
-Next Wednesday, August 7th is Day of Caring. The team will volunteer at Challenger Elementary in Howell from 9 to noon. The worksite confirmation suggests volunteers bring gardening tools and a couple rakes/string trimmers/push brooms.
-Over half of our registered athletes on Final Forms have their physical uploaded and both registrations complete. Physicals must be uploaded and registrations must be completed before practices begin in August.
-The KLAA Championships are tentatively scheduled for Thursday, October 17th. We won't have confirmation for another couple of weeks.
-Coach Ritsema's passing has left many in the BXC family with heavy hearts. Ritz was truly one of a kind. His commitment to service on the course and in the community was inspiring. One of my goals in life is to have just a fraction of the impact that Ritz had on his athletes and community. The memorial service is at 11 a.m. on August 29th at First United Methodist Church in Brighton. Attendees are encouraged to wear your black and orange XC gear.
