-We hope everyone had a fun filled 4th and are ready for the busy week ahead!

-Kensington Camp is this Tuesday, the 8th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Every XC runner is strongly encouraged to attend (alumni as well!). Athletes should come dressed ready to run and bring their recovery food and water. We'll have groups running 3-6+ miles. After the run the team will play Nuke'Em and Ultimate. Additional food and drinks will be available. We'll meet at the Possum Hollow Playfield West picnic shelter.

-Wednesday morning the team will run at the Milford Trail near downtown Milford. The technical 5.5ish mile trail is best for more fit/experienced athletes. Runners should meet at the trailhead by 8 a.m. and be picked up at 9:30. The afternoon track and weight room session from 4:45-7:00 is ideal for all our BXC athletes.

-Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon we will volunteer at Huron Meadows to remove the invasive Autumn Olive. We'll meet at the south side parking lot near the Cedar Ridge pavilion. "For this event, we will be cutting invasive autumn olive shrubs using loppers and hand saws, in order to open up the woodland and preserve the plant community found there. We will provide all necessary tools and gloves, but volunteers can feel free to bring their own gloves if they'd like. I'd recommend wearing pants and closed-toe shoes, and long sleeves can be helpful as extra protection from branches or insects."

-FYI we typically have a large group of athletes meet that meet prior to get their run in for the day.

-Next Friday is the July Time Trial. This is the first opportunity to qualify for Team Camp at UAW Black Lake.

-Our 10th annual Middle School XC Camp is a couple weeks away. We currently have just under 60 registered youth runners with more expected. A camp this size wouldn't be possible without the support provided by our high school athletes. The more high school runners that volunteer the better!

-Agate Core Therapy (Dr./Mrs. Elsey's practice) in downtown Brighton is offering a free gate screening to BXC athletes. The gait screen is a valuable tool used to determine risk of injury. Athletes will receive the analysis report along with 1-3 action items to reduce potential injuries and improve performance. After signing up, you'll be contacted to schedule the free gait screen.

-Carole's Kicks is new program made possible through the Yoga Strong Foundation in collaboration with Running Lab. Their mission is to help support middle and high school cross country and track athletes in need all across Livingston County by providing high quality running shoes. Please contact Coach Elsey for more details.

-Thank you to everyone that has completed the registration process through Final Forms and submitted the $30 Team Fee through Zeffy. All athletes need an updated physical, athlete/parent registrations, and team fee submitted prior to the start of the season. The team fee helps cover the cost of team shirts and post workout chocolate milk.
